1. Humanity Defined by Five Relational Duties

   The primer opens by claiming that humans are the most valuable of all beings because they have the Five Relationships, not because of intelligence or strength. These are affection between father and son, righteousness between ruler and minister, distinction between husband and wife, order between elder and younger, and trust between friends. A person who fails these obligations is described as little different from an animal, so human status is earned through conduct inside relationships rather than given by nature.

2. Remonstrance Rules Scaled by Bond Type

   Each relationship has its own procedure for correcting a superior or peer who does wrong, and the right to walk away depends on how breakable the bond is. A son remonstrates gently with a father, and if ignored he weeps and still follows, because blood ties cannot be dissolved. A friend offers honest advice once, stops if it is rejected, and does not push to the point of humiliation.

3. Korea's Civilization Is Coeval With China's

   The history section runs China's dynasties from the mythic sovereigns to the Ming. It then gives Korea a parallel chronology beginning with Dangun, whom it says founded the state in the same era as the sage-king Yao.
