The butterfly way as a readable route
Butterflies do not flutter at random. Many species fly the same corridors again and again, along ridgelines, stream valleys, forest edges and lines of host and nectar plants, shaped by terrain, wind and sunlight. Once an observer learns these 'butterfly ways', a landscape becomes a network of paths that can be read, predicted and walked beside, rather than a scene where butterflies simply appear.
