1. Children nail the sun for endless day

   On a blue planet inhabited only by children, the adventurer-salesman Gleesome Goodday arrives and promises unending fun. He fixes the sun in place so one side has permanent daylight, and he lets the children fly using dust vacuumed from the wings of the planet's butterflies. Friends Brimir and Hulda cross to the now-frozen dark side and find children there freezing in endless night, which exposes the true price of the bargain.

2. Consuming the source of the pleasure

   Each flight burns up butterfly-wing dust, so the more the children enjoy flying, the faster they destroy the living population that makes flying possible. Here the consumption does more than deplete a stock. It destroys the regenerating system behind the good, and the pleasure itself becomes the engine of that destruction.
