1. Poet searches drowning Helsinki for wife

   In a near-future Helsinki days before Christmas, unceasing rain has flooded districts, climate refugees are streaming north, and the police are too overwhelmed to look for missing persons. When his journalist wife Johanna vanishes, the poet Tapani Lehtinen searches for her himself. He discovers she was investigating the Healer, a serial killer who murders corporate executives and their families as punishment for causing the climate crisis. The search forces him to learn how much of his wife's life he did not know.

2. Collapsing institutions push protection onto private networks

   When public institutions like police, courts, and emergency services pass their breaking point, protection does not disappear. It moves to whoever can pay for it or who is personally loyal to you. Security becomes a matter of private guards and individual favors, and citizens without such networks are left to act alone.

3. Violence framed as healing a sick world

   The killer calls himself a healer, which recasts murder as treatment: the planet is the patient and certain people are the disease. This framing turns a diffuse, collective harm like climate change into a list of named individuals to be punished. It gives personal vengeance the moral cover of a cure.

4. Slow catastrophe becomes the new normal

   Gradual disaster does not produce one moment of panic. It produces adaptation, as people keep commuting, working, and planning holidays while the city floods around them. Because each worsening step is absorbed as routine, the collapse stays visible yet unacted upon until private tragedy breaks the numbness.
