1. When the state is the culprit, investigation replaces justice

   In a society where police, courts and government are complicit in the crime, a detective who solves the case cannot hand the culprit over to the law. The payoff of the investigation shifts from punishment to exposure: naming the guilty and refusing official forgetting. The detective's reward is a private moral reckoning, often won through improvised or personal action.

2. The city itself as the investigated subject

   The detective's cases serve as a pretext for moving through the megacity's neighborhoods, traffic, rain, corruption and survival economies. Each clue exposes another layer of how the city works and fails. Read this way, the crime story becomes a sociological portrait in which the real mystery is how ordinary people endure a place shaped by impunity.
