Hope is a precondition, not a guarantee
Hope by itself does not change anything, but without it no one begins to struggle at all. It works as the necessary starting condition for action, not as a substitute for it.

Hope here is not a cheerful mood or a belief that things will turn out fine. It is a deliberate stance kept up even when hard facts suggest giving up, because abandoning it would end the effort to change those facts.
A teacher's deepest job is not to hand over content but to leave learners able to keep learning without the teacher. Teaching done this way stays critical and creative, never a mechanical transfer of facts.
Education is treated as part of changing society, not separate from it. Learning through dialogue builds a critical awareness of one's situation, and that awareness is what makes collective struggle against oppression possible.
