1. The teacher-trained predictive copy of mind

   The jewel is a neural network wired to the same sensory inputs as the brain. A 'teacher' device keeps adjusting it until its outputs match the brain's moment by moment. Once the two agree for long enough, the brain is treated as redundant, so identity is defined operationally as matching behaviour rather than continuity of substrate.

2. Ask 'which one am I?' before and after

   The story reframes the upload question from 'is the copy me?' to 'which of the two parallel minds is the one asking right now?' Asked from inside, the question has no comforting answer, because each copy has equal claim to the memories and the first-person view. The lens exposes how psychological-continuity theories of identity sidestep the fate of the half that gets discarded.
