1. The Dorsa Brevia congress of underground factions

   The scattered resistance groups of Mars (Reds opposed to terraforming, Greens, Bogdanovists, Booneans, anarchists, Marsfirsters, and religious communities) meet in a hidden city under the Dorsa Brevia ridge to draft a common declaration. A Praxis corporate diplomat, Art Randolph, acts as facilitator. Through weeks of argument they agree on principles such as land, air, and water being held in stewardship rather than owned, basic rights guaranteed to all residents, and a sovereign, decentralized Mars. Their deep disagreements, above all how much to terraform, are left unresolved but held inside a shared frame.

2. Earth's ice-sheet collapse opens revolution window

   The second Martian revolution succeeds largely because the West Antarctic ice sheet collapses and seas rise sharply, flooding Earth's coastal cities and pulling Earth's powers and metanational security forces into crisis at home. The Martian underground, prepared in advance, moves while its opponents are overwhelmed. The takeover stays mostly bloodless, capped by the mass evacuation of Burroughs as its protective dikes fail against rising Martian water.

3. Metanationals: corporations that swallow nation-states

   Transnational corporations merge into metanationals, which absorb weak nation-states wholesale by taking over their debt, labor, and governance, so the corporation becomes the sovereign. Power shifts from territory and citizenship to contract and employment. The same form can also be turned toward other ends: Praxis reorganizes as a worker-owned, long-horizon metanational and becomes an ally of Martian independence.
