   Under datura, the narrator's impossible experiences feel as vivid as her ordinary ones, and she can no longer reliably tell them apart. The book goes further than questioning her private perceptions: it suggests that shared human reality may itself be a brain-made delusion, so agreement with others offers no secure ground for sorting the real from the hallucinated.
