Seven gifts to restore Salim's voice
In Damascus in 1959, seen from the exile of a Syrian writer who left in 1971, the old coachman and storyteller Salim falls mute, and his fairy says he will speak again after receiving seven unique gifts. After other remedies fail, his elderly friends, long his listeners, realize the gifts can be stories and meet on successive nights to tell them, with Ali's wife supplying the final tale.
