Living tradition as usable artistic resource
Tradition is treated not as a heritage to preserve or reject but as a living stock of forms, techniques and narrative devices that a modern artist can draw on selectively. Folk, craft and classical idioms become working vocabularies for present concerns, which dissolves the supposed choice between Western modernism and nationalist revivalism.
