1. Sonmi-451: a fabricant's engineered ascension

   In Nea So Copros, a corporate state in future Korea, Sonmi-451 is a cloned server at Papa Song's diner whose curiosity is held down by the drug-laced 'Soap' she is fed. Her Soap is deliberately altered as part of an experiment, and she 'ascends': she learns to read, studies, and comes to understand her condition. Before her execution she tells an archivist that the rebellion that took her up was staged by the state, but she cooperated so her Declaration of fabricant rights would spread.

2. How Papa Song's keeps fabricants docile

   The system keeps fabricants docile largely without open force: Soap dulls their curiosity, their routine is scripted, and they are promised a paradise called 'Xultation' after twelve years of service, which is really slaughter and recycling into food. Sonmi breaks from this obedience only after her Soap is altered in an experiment and outsiders educate and guide her. The book does not show curiosity or reading alone as enough to break it.

3. Testimony survives its author and becomes scripture

   Sonmi's account is recorded as an interrogation 'orison', and in the book's far-future Hawaii story people worship her as a goddess. That later reverence bears almost no relation to who she was. A single recorded voice can be distorted by later readers and still keep resistance alive for generations after the regime that killed her.
