Reality control as a managed profession
Once a person's life is a continuous broadcast, authenticity becomes something produced to order by a professional who arranges spontaneous-seeming moments, filters out risky speech and balances the demands of sponsors, audiences and regulators. The controller's product is not the influencer but a believable version of the influencer. That version is shaped as much by what is quietly left out as by what is shown.
