1. Blimp pilot plots to bomb Super Bowl

   Michael Lander, a Navy pilot broken by years as a North Vietnamese POW and by the contempt he met on returning home, now flies a commercial blimp over televised football games. Dahlia Iyad of Black September becomes his lover and handler, and together they arm the blimp's gondola with plastic explosive packed with steel darts to kill the Super Bowl crowd in New Orleans. Mossad major David Kabakov, who had spared Dahlia during a Beirut raid, works with the FBI to hunt them down before game day.

2. Familiar infrastructure as invisible attack vector

   The most exploitable asset at a guarded mass event is whatever appears there so routinely that security treats it as scenery. A blimp that hovers over every big game, flown by a trusted regular, crosses the perimeter by design. Threat assessment has to ask what is already permitted inside, not only what is trying to get in.

3. Countdown structure with asymmetric reader knowledge

   Suspense comes from telling the reader the target and the date early, then cutting between the plotters and pursuers who lack that knowledge. Tension builds from the gap between what the audience knows and what the hunters know, as a fixed deadline gets closer. The question shifts from what will happen to whether they will figure it out in time.
