Compress Earth's history into one day
Map Earth's roughly 4.5-billion-year history onto a single 24-hour day and the proportions become visible. Simple life appears early, but complex multicellular life shows up only in the evening. Dinosaurs arrive near 11 p.m. and are gone within about 40 minutes. Humans appear only in the last minute or two before midnight, and all of recorded history takes a few seconds.
