  1. The Five-Step Process to Goals

Achieve anything by cycling through five distinct steps: set clear goals, identify the problems blocking them, diagnose problems to find root causes, design plans to get around them, and execute those plans. Treating these as separate steps prevents the common failure of blending diagnosis with solution or jumping to action before understanding the cause.

  2. Believability-Weighted Decision Making

When weighing opinions, weight each person's input by their track record and demonstrated competence in the relevant domain rather than treating all voices equally or deferring to authority. This avoids both the tyranny of the loudest voice and the false equality of one-person-one-vote, routing decisions toward those most likely to be right.

  3. Pain Plus Reflection Equals Progress

Painful experiences are not obstacles to growth but the raw material for it — the value comes only when you pause to reflect on the pain rather than reacting to escape it. People who systematically extract lessons from their failures improve faster than those who avoid or suppress the discomfort.
